Today’s Feature: THE STORY OF LYNAM AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE

by Belizean Author, Rudolph Bowman, with contributions from former teachers and students, chronicling their trials, tribulations, and triumphs.

Rudolph Bowman was born and grew up in Stann Creek Town, now Dangriga, Belize. He attended Wesley Primary School, Lynam College, and the Escuela Agrícola Panamericana, after which he taught at Lynam for two years. Lynam, in the Stann Creek Valley of Belize, was a school envisioned by the Jesuits to move beyond a classical secondary education for the male youths of then British Honduras. This school, the brainchild of Fathers John M. Knopp in the early fifties and Father Urban J. Kramer later, was to provide in addition to classical secondary education, both formal and practical training in agriculture. Lynam began with thatched-roof structures in 1957 and was officially closed in 1971. The Print-on-Demand book is listed as Lynam Agricultural College and is available at:
